professorship at the assistant, associate, or full level. Under the umbrella of community-engaged scholarship addressing complex social problems, the candidate's area of specialization is open.
Human and Organizational Development is an interdisciplinary department with core faculty from community psychology, sociology, geography, anthropology, communication studies, and public health. We welcome applications from social scientists in any discipline, especially those who bring a spatial perspective to social problems, with an emphasis on economic, racial/ethnic, gender, and environmental equity.
Department faculty conduct community-engaged research, working closely with local partners to study actions and changes that may be organized at the local, state, national, or international levels. Faculty work on a wide array of issues including climate change, health equity, land and housing justice, community organizing, community responses to gender-based violence, youth empowerment, critical consciousness, and urban development. We have a shared interest in how organizations and communities develop solutions to social problems and promote change through, for example, psychosocial and sociopolitical development, collective action, citizen science and action-based research, organizational innovation, policy interventions, and multi-sector coalitions.
The department values qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research. Candidates who bring theoretical and methodological expertise in spatial analysis (e.g., critical geographic information systems, critical cartography) and experience with community-based or participatory research are particularly encouraged to apply. Links to existing departmental strengths would also be an asset.
Candidates should have a strong record of research productivity. Senior candidates, especially, should have a well-established program of research reflected in publications and a track record of external funding to support research endeavors. Successful candidates will have excellent teaching credentials, the demonstrated capacity to provide leadership and enhance instruction at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
The candidate will teach and mentor students in the undergraduate program in Human and Organizational Development, the doctoral program in Community Research and Action, and, depending on area of research, our master's programs in Community Development and Action, Human Development Studies: Organizational Development and Change, and/or Human Development Counseling.

In this multifaceted role, you will cultivate relationships with key entities such as Ontario Shared Service, Canadian Revenue Agency, and other ministries, engaging in discussions that shape our approach to pay and benefits. Your responsibilities extend to developing proactive processes and services, independently handling non-routine payment matters, and providing consultative advice to colleagues across all staff levels.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO DO IN THIS ROLE?
You Will
- Lead the full payroll and benefits lifecycle from employee onboarding to termination, including the reconciliation of gross pay and benefits.
- Provide expert consultative advice to managers and employees on all aspects of pay, pensions, and benefits.
- Act as the organization's lead representative at meetings with key partners like Ontario Shared Service, the Canada Revenue Agency, and others to resolve pay and benefits issues.
- Develops and delivers proactive services for new hires, including documentation, benefits changes, and retirement packages.
- Processes payroll, benefits, and pension changes independently, handling sensitive matters like garnishments and severance.
- Provides consultative advice to Human Resources staff, managers, and employees on all aspects of pay, pension, and benefits.
- Leads the administration of pay, benefits, and pensions to ensure all directives and standards are met.
- Uses high-level security authorization to correct incorrect data in the Ontario Public Service's payroll software.
- Provides payroll information and documents for annual financial audits, including forecasts for severance and vacation liabilities.
- Offers input to senior leadership on improving operational efficiency in payroll and benefits administration.
- Provides salary and benefits costing analysis for the annual corporate budget and business plan.
- Leads special automation projects for new systems and tools in payroll, benefits, and pensions.
- Maintains proper business records in accordance with standard business processes and quality assurance standards.
- Acts as the organization's payroll and benefits lead at forums with ministry specialists to resolve complex issues and address system upgrades or new collective agreements.

HOW DO I QUALIFY?
Knowledge And Experience
- Human Resources: You should have a general understanding of HR theories related to payroll, benefits, and pensions. Knowledge of Ontario Public Service Collective Agreements and salary/benefits administration policies is a plus.
- Human Resources: You have a general understanding of human resource theories related to payroll, benefits, and pensions and ability to interpret and implement Ontario Public Service collective agreements (i.e OPSEU, AMAPCEO) and salary/benefits administration policies.
- Financial & Legal: A general knowledge of financial accounting, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), is required. You should also be familiar with relevant federal and provincial laws (e.g., Income Tax Act, Employment Standards Act) to ensure compliance.
Technical: You must have experience using HR information management systems and databases to access and analyze data.
Interpersonal & Communication Skills
- You will need strong communication skills to provide clear explanations to directors, senior leadership, and colleagues.
- You should be discreet, tactful, and courteous when resolving payroll issues with employees, ministries, or third parties.
- You will also guide other pay and benefits staff in navigating difficult conversations and complex issues.
Planning, Project Management, And Coordination Skills
- You must have strong project management skills to lead payroll, benefits, and pension projects. This includes creating schedules, organizing information, and delegating tasks.
- You will lead and implement all payroll automation projects, such as those related to time and attendance.
- As the lead, you will be responsible for coordinating various activities and ensuring timely responses to multiple, often complex, priorities.
Analytical Skills
- You will need to independently analyze and assess payroll, pension, and benefits issues and determine the appropriate course of action.
- You must be able to review data for quality, integrity, trends, and patterns.
- You will create and review payroll reports to ensure accuracy.
- You will determine how specific legislation and policies apply to unique payroll scenarios.

We seek a scholar to join our clinical science faculty whose research applies artificial intelligence (AI) methods to developmental psychopathology, clinical psychological science, model behavior and decision-making processes, and/or intervention research with children and/or families.

Ideal candidates will use AI to enhance research methodologies, develop predictive models for risk and treatment response, and/or integrate AI into evidence-based interventions for children and/or families. Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, mentoring trainees, and contributing to departmental and college service.
Qualifications
Minimum required qualifications include:
- Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or a closely related field by the start date.
- Experience applying AI methods in research.
- Evidence of high-impact scholarship and a strong trajectory for external funding.

We seek a distinguished scholar and educator in the field of social innovation and entrepreneurship. This person is being sought as a part of a three-person hire to establish a social innovation and entrepreneurship focus in the Department of Human and Organizational Development at Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. We are interested in scholars focused on how social innovation and entrepreneurship can strengthen a community's economic, cultural, educational, health, and other systems to enhance collective betterment and vibrancy. We seek scholars committed to broad stakeholder engagement, democratic deliberation, and effective and ethical practices as methods for creating sustainable social, economic, and environmental benefits.
Human and Organizational Development is an interdisciplinary department that focuses on exploring human, organizational, and community development processes in local and global context. Our core faculty includes scholars with backgrounds in psychology, sociology, geography, anthropology, communications, and public health. We value qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research that addresses complex social problems across multiple scales or levels.
We seek a colleague with a productive research program in social innovation and entrepreneurship with an emphasis on stakeholder engagement, action research, or other modes of public scholarship. Successful candidates will also have excellent teaching credentials and the demonstrated capacity to provide leadership and mentorship at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Candidates should have a strong record of research productivity and demonstrated ability to secure funding to support research endeavors. The successful candidate will teach and mentor students in Vanderbilt's undergraduate program in Human and Organizational Development, the doctoral program in Community Research and Action, and, depending on area of research, our master's programs in Community Development and Action, Human Development Studies, and/or Human Development Counseling.
