Evago Global Capital is expanding into healthcare innovation in Nigeria. We are looking for a visionary CEO in Lagos to establish and lead a new platform that will operate as both a Contract Research Organization (CRO) and a biotech & life sciences incubator.

If you have senior leadership experience in CROs, biotech, or clinical research, strong knowledge of Nigerian regulators (NAFDAC, NHREC), and the drive to build a pioneering venture from the ground up, we want to hear from you.

Company Description

As part of our expansion into healthcare innovation, we plan to operate as a Contract Research Organization (CRO) and biotech and life sciences incubator, supporting African healthcare innovation and global clinical research partnerships.

About the Role

We are seeking a visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) based in Lagos to lead this initiative from inception. The CEO will spearhead the establishment of our Nigerian subsidiary, engage with universities, regulators, and government agencies, and position the organization as a credible platform for both global sponsors and African innovators.

This is a rare opportunity to shape a pioneering healthcare research and innovation venture at ground level, with the backing of a UK parent company and access to global networks.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the establishment of the Nigerian subsidiary, including office setup, corporate structuring, and regulatory registrations.
  • Develop and implement the strategic roadmap for delivering

(clinical trials, site management, BA/BE studies, pharmacovigilance, regulatory affairs) alongside a
    life sciences incubator
that identifies and supports emerging healthcare innovations.
  • Ensure alignment of CRO operations and incubator activities to reinforce each other, creating a pipeline from early research to commercialization.

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships

  • Build high-value relationships with regulators (NAFDAC, NHREC, institutional HRECs, Ministry of Health).
  • Develop structured MOUs with universities and research institutions (e.g., LUTH, LASUTH, UNILAG/CMUL, LASUCOM, NIMR) to secure collaboration, trial capacity, and innovation sourcing.
  • Represent the company in discussions with government agencies, NGOs, DFIs, and global sponsors.
  • Act as the organization's external face in Nigeria, maintaining credibility with regulators, partners, and investors.

Operational Leadership

  • Recruit, develop, and manage the Nigerian team (clinical operations, regulatory, QA/QMS, finance, administration).
  • Establish and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) aligned with ICH-GCP and NAFDAC requirements.
  • Ensure efficient execution of CRO contracts and incubator projects, with strict adherence to ethical standards, trial registration, and data integrity.
  • Implement financial and operational systems for accountability and reporting to the UK parent company.

Business Development & Funding

  • Identify, pitch, and secure CRO contracts with multinational pharma, local generics, NGOs, and diagnostic/device companies.
  • Assist the global team as together we develop partnerships to channel overseas funding and donor capital into incubator research projects within the CRO framework.
  • Position the organization as the preferred local partner for global clinical trials and as a trusted incubator for African biotech ventures.

Governance & Reporting

  • Provide regular updates to the UK Board of Directors.
  • Ensure full compliance with Nigerian corporate governance requirements.
  • Drive transparency, ethical conduct, and financial discipline across the subsidiary.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking an exceptional leader with a rare blend of scientific expertise, regulatory familiarity, entrepreneurial spirit, and management acumen.

Essential Requirements:

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, or MSc in Life Sciences, Clinical Research, Public Health, or related discipline).
  • Minimum 10–15 years' professional experience, with at least 5 years in senior leadership within a CRO, biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare research organization.
  • Proven track record of leading or contributing to clinical trials, BA/BE studies, regulatory submissions, or related research programs in Nigeria or comparable markets.
  • Deep understanding of Nigerian regulatory frameworks (NAFDAC, NHREC, institutional ethics committees) and proven ability to work effectively with them.
  • Strong relationships or credibility within the Nigerian healthcare research ecosystem (universities, hospitals, regulators, donors).
  • Demonstrated success in establishing or scaling organizations, managing teams, and driving growth.
  • Solid understanding of financial management, corporate governance, and fundraising.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience in building or managing a CRO in Nigeria or Africa.
  • Exposure to international sponsors and ability to bridge Nigerian operations with global pharma/biotech standards.
  • Experience collaborating with NGOs, DFIs, or international research consortia.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a start-up or scale-up environment.
  • Passion for healthcare innovation and commitment to improving access to clinical research and innovation across Africa.

What We Offer

  • A unique opportunity to lead the launch of a pioneering healthcare research and incubator platform in Nigeria.
  • Competitive salary and performance-based incentives.
  • Direct reporting to the UK Board and opportunity to shape company strategy at the highest level.
  • A chance to make lasting impact in Nigeria's healthcare ecosystem while connecting to global networks in biotech and life sciences.
