Position Overview
Lapomik Energy Nigeria Limited is seeking a motivated Power Systems / Automation Engineer to
design, implement, and support SCADA, control, and protection systems for renewable energy
plants (solar, wind, hybrid, and BESS). The role involves working across the full lifecycle: design,
FAT, commissioning, and O&M; support, ensuring compliance with utility grid codes,
cybersecurity standards, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and configure SCADA, PLC, and automation systems for renewable power plants.
• Develop and review Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Interface Control Documents
(ICD), and communication architectures.
• Program and integrate PLCs/RTUs, protection relays, meters, inverters, and BESS controllers.
• Perform system modelling and grid code compliance studies (ramp rate, frequency-watt,
curtailment, AGC).
• Lead and execute Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
• Ensure compliance with utility interconnection standards, local grid codes, and cybersecurity
(IEC 62443, NERC CIP where applicable).
• Prepare engineering drawings (single-line diagrams, I/O lists, network diagrams).
• Provide onsite and remote commissioning support, troubleshooting, and performance testing.
• Support O&M; teams with monitoring dashboards, alarm management, and cyber patching.
• Document lessons learned and standardize templates for future projects.
Qualifications & Skills
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Automation, or related field
(Master's a plus).
• 3–7 years of experience in power systems, industrial automation, or SCADA integration
(renewable energy preferred).
• Hands-on experience with PLC/RTU programming (e.g., Siemens, Schneider, ABB, SEL, or
similar).
• Knowledge of renewable plant controls (inverters, BESS, PPC, EMS) and utility communication
protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, OPC UA).
• Strong understanding of power system protection, controls, and grid integration requirements.
• Experience with SCADA/HMI platforms (e.g., Ignition, WinCC OA, Wonderware, GE iFix, etc.).
• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles (IEC 62443, NERC CIP) and IT/OT networking.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/EPLAN for control schematics and drawings.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for project delivery.

- Possession of relevant industry certification or trainings in Electrical Power systems installation, maintenance, and/or repairs.
- Knowledge of equipment installation, electrical and mechanical repairs, welding and fabrication, and safety and compliance.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems and Microsoft office suite.
