Role Overview
The Market Entry & Strategy Lead will be responsible for conducting detailed market research, ecosystem mapping, and feasibility studies, and will lead the strategic planning and execution of our go-to-market strategy. This person will act as a trusted advisor to the executive team and will be the company's first on-the-ground hire.
You will shape our market entry from the ground up, from identifying pilot opportunities to building strategic partnerships, analyzing regulatory frameworks, and helping us understand how to best serve the market with our full ecosystem offering.
Key Responsibilities
Market Research & Ecosystem Mapping
- Analyze the current state of electric mobility in Nigeria: demand drivers, adoption barriers, regulatory landscape, and infrastructure readiness.
- Conduct comprehensive market research to assess EV adoption potential across sectors (fleet operators, delivery/logistics, government programs, etc.)
- Identify key stakeholders and map the full mobility ecosystem: competitors, charging operators, service providers, strategic partners.
- Identify potential strategic partners (charging stations, vehicle maintenance networks, distributors)
Feasibility Analysis
- Prepare feasibility reports covering market potential, pricing analysis, operational considerations, and partner alignment
- Assess risks and operational challenges: import duties, grid reliability, after-sales service availability, consumer awareness, etc. and recommend mitigations
- Identify and evaluate possible pilot program locations or use cases
Pilot Planning & Partnership Development
- Design a commercially viable pilot project (location, use case, customer segment).
- Identify and engage potential local partners: charging station operators, maintenance providers, driver networks, local governments, logistics clients, and financiers.
Go-to-Market Advisory
- Define a phased go-to-market plan, aligned with local realities and HQ objectives.
- Contribute to early product-market fit testing, brand positioning, and messaging.
- Provide inputs for marketing messaging that resonates locally
- Assist in building a local sales & support team post-entry
Strategic Reporting & Leadership Communication
- Produce weekly reports with recommendations, insights, and risk assessments.
- Present findings with clarity and data-backed recommendations
- Track KPIs and suggest course corrections as market dynamics evolve.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in market research, business development or startup operations, preferably in mobility, energy, or tech sectors
- Strong network across Nigeria's business, logistics, or energy sectors is a plus
- Deep understanding of Nigerian regulatory and business environment
- Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder management and presentation skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to work independently and navigate ambiguity
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience launching or scaling a product or service in the Nigerian market
- Background in clean mobility, renewable energy, fleet logistics or related tech industries
- Network in logistics, fleet, energy, or donor-funded projects
