Job Description
The Accountant needed for the responsibility of managing financial transactions, monitoring budgets, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the brewery’s financial health. This role involves tracking production costs, managing inventory accounting, and producing accurate financial reports to guide business decisions.
Key Responsibilities: br>Financial Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records (sales, expenses, taxes, payroll).
Record daily transactions and reconcile general ledger accounts.
Cost Accounting:
Track raw material usage and production costs.
Analyze variances between actual and standard costs.
Prepare reports on cost of production, bottling, packaging, and distribution.
Inventory Management:
Monitor raw material, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventory.
Reconcile physical inventory with system records monthly.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in preparing budgets and cash flow forecasts.
Track budget performance and report deviations.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Process vendor invoices and customer payments.
Reconcile customer accounts and follow up on overdue balances.
Tax and Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with tax regulations (VAT, excise duty, PAYE).
Prepare and file necessary tax returns and documentation.
Payroll Support:
Assist in payroll calculations and ensure proper tax deductions.
Maintain employee expense records.
Internal Controls & Audits:
Implement and monitor financial controls to reduce waste, fraud, and errors.
Support internal and external audits with required documentation.
Reporting:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Generate management reports on profitability, sales, and production efficiency.
Collaboration:
Work with the production and procurement departments to align financial planning with operations.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of cost accounting, especially in manufacturing or FMCG.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, SAP, or brewery-specific ERP).
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of excise duty regulations and inventory control.
Good communication skills and attention to detail.
Educational & Professional Qualifications:
B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) is a strong advantage.
2–5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or brewery environment.
