Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing various construction-related laboratory tests, including soil, asphalt, concrete, and field tests, ensuring that all results comply with applicable construction standards. The position requires strong attention to detail, accuracy in testing, and the ability to work collaboratively with the team.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform a wide range of laboratory tests, including tests on concrete, soil, asphalt, and aggregates, ensuring compliance with construction standards. < r>• ssist in secondary testing related to permeability, strength, and materials acceptance of soil, concrete, and asphalt. < r>• P epare and maintain accurate laboratory records for samples and tests according to applicable construction standards. < r>• C mpile, input, and report testing results accurately. < r>• E sure the laboratory is in compliance with accreditation standards. < r>• R cord and maintain equipment calibration and verification logs. < r>• P rform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor. < r>Qualifications and Experience
• F r Laboratory Assistants: < r>o Minimum of School Certificate and/or OND in a related field with experience in a construction laboratory.
• F r Laboratory Technicians and Senior Laboratory Technicians: < r>o Degree/HND in Civil Engineering/Technology, Geosciences, or related field is required.
o Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant working experience in a construction laboratory, particularly in soil, asphalt, concrete, and field tests.
o Computer proficiency is mandatory for Senior Laboratory Technicians.

Job Description
1. Perform and interpret analytical tests and observations necessary to monitor and control the treatment process, including relating data to the plant operators. br>2. Collect in-plant and industrial wastewater samples.
3. Perform and interpret standard bacteriological examinations; identify biological growths by microscopic examination.
4. Perform necessary analyses for industrial waste monitoring.
5. Prepare standard chemical solutions, reagents, stains and media.
6. Make calculations, keep records, and enter data of work performed.
7. Perform or assist in performing surveys, laboratory experiments and special projects to investigate unique problems and develop testing procedures and methods.
8. Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment, glassware and supplies including general housekeeping; calibrate lab meters and instruments.
9. Assist in inventory control of supplies and chemicals.
10. Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
11. Foster an environment that embraces diversity, integrity, trust, and respect.
12. Be an integral team player, which involves flexibility, cooperation, and communication.
13. Test and treat boiler feed water, using specified chemicals.
14. Maintains stock of forms and spare parts by verifying inventory of items; notifying laboratory manager when items are needed.
15. Collects lab samples and performs standard analyses and tests as required; adds chemicals as needed.
16. Engage in general housekeeping weekly.
17. Any other duties as may be assigned by Management from time to time
Qualifications
1. Minimum B.S.C. / HND (2/2 or its equivalent in – Biochemistry / Laboratory Technology / < r>Chemistry)
Experience :Minimum 1 - 2 years’ experience in the Industrial section and Process Plant Operations < r>
