NextGen Academy is an online tech bootcamp for kids and teens (ages 7–17). Our mission is to inspire the next generation of creators by teaching future-ready skills in game development, AI, cybersecurity, and innovation. We combine structured curricula with hands-on projects in a fun, safe, and supportive environment.
Role Overview
We are looking for passionate and skilled
Game Development Instructors
to teach kids and teens the art and science of game creation. Instructors will deliver engaging, project-based classes using
Unity, C# scripting, and beginner-friendly tools like Kodu Game LAB
(especially for tweens).
The role requires patience, strong communication, and the ability to adapt complex technical concepts into fun, age-appropriate lessons.
Responsibilities
- Teach online game development classes (live virtual sessions).
- Deliver structured curricula across multiple levels:
- Level 0 (Tweens, 7–11):
Foundations of logic, Scratch-style block coding, Kodu Game Lab, intro to Unity basics. - Level 1–3 (Teens, 12–17):
Progressive mastery of Unity, C#, 2D & 3D games, design principles, and final projects. - Guide students through building playable projects (from simple 2D games to more advanced 3D prototypes).
- Create a positive, interactive classroom environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving.
- Provide feedback on assignments, projects, and presentations.
- Troubleshoot technical issues during classes with the support of teaching assistants.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager to improve lesson plans, activities, and teaching methods.
- Inspire students to showcase their projects at demo days and competitions.
Requirements
- Strong experience in
Unity
and
C# scripting
(required). - Previous teaching, mentoring, or facilitation experience (especially with kids/teens) is a plus.
- Ability to simplify technical concepts for younger learners.
- Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
- Reliable computer, fast internet, and a quiet environment for teaching.
- Availability to teach
live classes online
(Schedules are usually quite flexible).
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with
Scratch, Kodu Game Lab
for tweens. - Familiarity with
game design principles
(storytelling, mechanics, user experience). - Knowledge of project-based learning and gamified teaching.
- Portfolio of personal or student-built games.
