Role Overview
Responsible for design, engineering, planning, installation, testing & commissioning, and O&M of all electrical systems and equipment for Combined Cycle Power Plants under general supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and issue electrical engineering deliverables (specifications, PRs, layout drawings, calculations, bid evaluations, vendor drawing reviews) as per project schedule.
- Design Extra High, Medium, and Low Voltage power systems including BSDG, EDG, transformers, motors, generators, control & protection, switchgears/MCCs, and GIS switchyard (330 kV and above).
- Manage technical discussions with clients, consultants, OEMs, contractors, and suppliers.
- Support all phases of the project life cycle – from concept and design to engineering and operations.
- Ensure compliance with international codes, standards, and best practices for electrical equipment.
- Understand plant equipment such as GTG, STG, HRSG, exhaust gas bypass system, and related systems.
- Perform engineering assignments involving calculations, tests, and established design procedures.
- Expert in GIS 330 kV one-and-a-half breaker scheme and protection systems.
- Prepare drawings and specifications for new IPP projects.
- Lead design tasks for power transformers, MV/LV switchgears, DC/UPS systems, batteries, GCB, MV/LV cables, plant lighting, earthing, lightning systems, EDG, IPBD, etc.
- Develop key SLDs, interlocking diagrams, block logics, and routing layouts (IPBD, GIB).
- Prepare cable schedules, cable sizing, BOQs for cables, trays, lighting, and earthing systems.
- Define HSE standards in the electrical system of CCPP.
- Review BOP mechanical packages (DM plant, ETP, compressors, pumps, fire water system, HVAC, cranes, etc.).
- Ensure familiarity with interlocks, protection wiring, generator/transformer/switchgear protection, trip matrix concepts, and emergency systems (black start, ESD).
- Optimize sizing/BOQs for cables, trays, lighting, earthing, and major plant equipment.
- Design layouts for cable trays, earthing, lightning protection, and illumination.
Requirements
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. - Experience:
- 8–15 years in power plant projects (gas-based combined cycle).
- 8+ years in electrical system design for power plants.
- Strong experience working with
EPCs
(Engineering, Procurement & Construction). - Experience with large CCGT projects (>1000 MW).
- International project experience required.
- Other Skills:
- Strong knowledge of codes/standards and power plant systems.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

• Design and configure SCADA, PLC, and automation systems for renewable power plants.
