Our client, a prestigious commercial law firm based in Lagos, is seeking an experienced
Intellectual Property (IP) Lawyer
to join and play a pivotal role in the development and expansion of its IP department. This opportunity offers a unique blend of
strategic business development

Senior Partner
.
This is a rare and exciting chance for an IP lawyer with over 5 years of post-qualification experience to shape and grow a specialist practice area within a highly respected legal institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with the Senior Partner to
develop and implement the strategic vision
for the Intellectual Property department. - Lead
client acquisition and business development
efforts within the IP practice area. - Manage a caseload of complex IP matters, including trademarks, copyright, patents, licensing, and enforcement.
- Provide high-quality legal advice to a diverse client base, including multinationals, SMEs, and creative industry clients.
- Represent clients in contentious and non-contentious IP matters before relevant regulatory bodies and courts.
- Mentor and support junior team members as the department grows.
Requirements
- Minimum of
5 years post-qualification experience (PQE)
in Intellectual Property law. - Strong track record of
handling complex IP matters
, including both advisory and litigation work. - Demonstrated experience in
client development and relationship management
. - Familiarity with local and international IP frameworks, treaties, and enforcement mechanisms.
- Excellent interpersonal, drafting, and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, professional environment.
- A passion for innovation and the growth of the IP sector in Nigeria.
