About the Role Our client, a prestigious architectural and urban planning consultancy, is actively seeking an experienced Lead Urban Planning Architect to spearhead significant development initiatives in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, NG . This leadership position is crucial for shaping the strategic vision and execution of large-scale urban regeneration projects, master planning exercises, and community development plans. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of urban dynamics, sustainable development practices, and the regulatory landscape within the Federal Capital Territory . You will be responsible for leading a team of talented urban planners and architects, fostering collaboration, and ensuring the delivery of innovative, contextually relevant, and sustainable urban solutions. This role demands exceptional strategic thinking, design acumen, and the ability to engage effectively with government bodies, private developers, and community stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of master plans, zoning regulations, and urban design guidelines for new and existing urban areas.
  • Oversee the conceptualization and design of large-scale urban projects, ensuring integration of housing, commercial, public spaces, and infrastructure.
  • Manage and mentor a team of urban planners and architects, providing guidance and technical expertise.
  • Conduct comprehensive site analyses, demographic studies, and feasibility assessments to inform urban strategies.
  • Facilitate public consultations and stakeholder engagement processes to gather input and build consensus.
  • Collaborate with government agencies, developers, and community leaders to ensure project alignment with policy objectives and public interest.

Requirements
  • Master's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in urban planning and architectural design, with a significant focus on large-scale urban projects.
  • Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex urban development projects from inception to completion.
  • Expertise in urban planning software (e.g., GIS, AutoCAD, CityEngine) and design visualization tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of Nigerian urban planning policies, land use regulations, and environmental impact assessment processes.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
