Tilesetter Helper

Full Job Description

Responsibilities:
• Assist in shaping, measuring, and assembling material;
• Deliver or hold materials or tools to help tradesmen and, assist in other activities;
• Align and straighten tiles using levels, squares, and straightedges;
• Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas;
• Clean up of job sites;
• Build under beds and install anchor bolts, wires, and brackets;
• Mix, pour, and spread materials such as cement, and spread mortar;
• Select tools, equipment, and materials from storage and transport items to the work site;
• Mix, lay, and polish terra surfaces;
• Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed by tradesman;
• Prepare, measure and mark the surface to be covered;
• Assist tradesmen in laying cover interior and exterior walls, floors, and ceilings with ceramic, marble, and quarry tile, mosaics, or terrazzo;
• Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power-cutting tools;
• Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles.
Requirements:
• Completion of secondary school will be an asset
• Previous experience as a construction laborer would be an asset, on-the-job training can be provided
• Ability to lift heavy materials and equipment;
• Outstanding attention to detail;
• Ability to walk stands, crouch for long periods, and carry out strenuous physical tasks;
• Ability to work for long hours while sitting on knees;
• Requires lifting, pulling, and carrying of equipment and other objects;
• Candidate should be willing to work outdoors, indoors, and in all weather conditions;
