The Role


We are looking for a senior econometrician who will play a pivotal role in designing, executing, and refining econometric models for a wide range of analytics solutions at Stears Insights. Working closely with domain analysts and under the mentorship of the Lead economist (economic modeling), this position requires a hands-on approach to model development while ensuring rigor and precision. You will be comfortable with building models (e.g. VAR, DSGE, CGE, OLS) and running regressions to forecast macroeconomic and sector-specific indicators (e.g. inflation, FX, GDP). 


Key Responsibilities:


  • Model development and execution: Build econometric models (e.g. VAR, DSGE, CGE, OLS) and run regressions based on requirements provided by domain analysts to forecast macroeconomic and sector-specific indicators (e.g. inflation, FX, GDP)
  • Collaboration: Work closely with domain analysts to understand their requirements and ensure that models are built in alignment with the desired objectives
  • Refinement and iteration: C ontinuously refine models based on feedback from the Lead Econometrician and results from preliminary tests or deployments
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation on model methodologies, assumptions, variables, and results for future reference and audit purposes
  • Stay updated: C ontinuously update knowledge on the latest econometric techniques and best practices in the industry, ensuring Stears Insights remains at the forefront of analytics



  • Master’s degree in applied econometrics, statistics, economics, or a related quantitative field. A Ph.D. is a plus
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of professional experience in econometric modeling or a related area
  • Proficient in one or more statistical programming languages such as Stata, R, EViews, and Python. Experience in quickly executing and iterating on complex econometric models using these tools is a plus.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of econometric theories and principles
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and deploying complex econometric models in a real-world context
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex modeling techniques and their implications to non-technical stakeholders
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration skills
