Lab Technician (Batching Plant/Asphalt) Lagos&Ibadan

Full Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Lab Technician with experience in batching plant or asphalt testing to join a team in Lagos and Ibadan. The Lab Technician will be responsible for conducting various tests and analyses on materials used in batching plants or asphalt production to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities:
1. Perform testing on raw materials, intermediate products, and finished products according to established procedures and standards.
2. Conduct tests to assess the properties and quality of materials used in batching plant or asphalt production, including but not limited to aggregate gradation, asphalt content, moisture content, and specific gravity.
3. Record and analyze test results accurately, maintaining detailed records of all tests performed.
4. Identify and report any deviations from specifications or quality standards, and work with production staff to address and resolve any issues.
5. Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
6. Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures and protocols.
7. Communicate effectively with production staff, supervisors, and management regarding test results, quality issues, and any required corrective actions.
8. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
9. Stay updated on industry trends, developments, and best practices related to batching plant and asphalt testing.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.


Requirements:


1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field preferred. Relevant work experience will also be considered
2. Proven experience as a Lab Technician in a batching plant, asphalt plant, construction materials testing laboratory, or similar environment.
3. Strong understanding of testing procedures and equipment used in batching plant or asphalt testing.
4. Familiarity with relevant industry standards and specifications, such as ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT requirements.
7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
9. Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
10. Flexibility to work non-standard hours and weekends as needed.
