Full Job Description

Who we are

eHealth Africa (eHA) designs and implements data-driven solutions and technologies to improve health systems for and with local communities. eHA’s technology works in low connectivity settings, and smartly uses data to drive decision-making by local governments and partner agencies to get optimum results.

We leverage our staff and department expertise across five programmatic areas:

  • Health Delivery Systems
  • Public Health Emergency Management Systems
  • Disease Surveillance Systems
  • Laboratory & Diagnostic Systems
  • Nutrition & Food Security Systems

In each of these programmatic areas, we partner with governments, communities, nonprofits and other stakeholders to generate holistic solutions because we believe that every community deserves access to the types of tools that can enable them to lead healthier lives.

Purpose of the Position :

eHA is currently implementing the Indigo Deployment Project and providing support for various projects in Borno. Our goal is to deploy multiple units of the Indigo vaccine carrier within routine immunization programs to support EPI activities in Borno State, Nigeria. Additionally, we are conducting an assessment of the impact of the Indigo on vaccination coverage rates and polio response, with a focus on how these benefits evolve over time. This evaluation will help determine the potential impact of the vaccine carrier on future initiatives and scaling. eHA is collaborating with the Borno State Primary Healthcare Development Agency for these projects.

The role of the Indigo LGA Support Consultants is primarily focused on providing critical support to ensure the success of the projects and initiatives related to the Borno Pre-commercial Indigo Deployment. These consultants will work under the guidance and direct supervision of the Global Indigo Focal Person and Regional Project Manager.

What you’ll do

The key functions of the Indigo LGA Support Consultants encompass a range of support activities, with a specific emphasis on the Borno Pre-commercial Indigo Deployment:

  • Support for Implementation: Provide implementation support for the WHO PQS Field Evaluation of the pre-commercial Indigo system, ensuring compliance with field evaluation requirements and procedures.
  • Monitoring and Maintenance: Ensure the ongoing use of the pre-commercial Indigo system in Borno, including monitoring charging locations and the operational use of Indigo carriers.
  • Facility Management: Ensure that the Indigo project management facility located at the Borno Emergency Operations Center ("EOC") is safe, secure, and well-maintained for all necessary Indigo deployment support activities.
  • Strategic Planning Assistance: Collaborate with BOSPHCDA to contribute to the definition and determination of BOSPHCDA plans for Indigo use, particularly concerning routine immunization outreach and Zero Dose population targeting.
  • Commercialization Transition Support: Provide support for the transition of the pre-commercial Indigo system to a commercial Indigo system, including assisting with assessing BOSPHCDA requirements, executing a handover plan, and developing training protocols to facilitate this transition.
  • Documentation and Media Assets: Assist in obtaining BOSPHCDA approval for the collection of media assets to document Commercial System deployment.
  • Technical Support: Offer technical support, including testing, troubleshooting, and repairs, as directed by the Client, with a focus on ensuring that Indigo units are promptly returned to the eHealth charging facility following implementation exercises.
  • Project Coordination Assistance: Support project coordination, including administrative tasks related to Indigo deployment, and ensure the appropriate integration of Indigo reporting into all BoSPHCDA documentation and reporting.
  • Reporting Assistance: Assist in the coordination and preparation of reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, with a particular emphasis on highlighting all activities related to the project.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide technical assistance for the implementation of activities related to the deployment of Indigos for Routine Immunization Expansion, Reach Inaccessible Children, and other PHC-related projects.
  • Best Practices and Capacity Building: Assist in identifying best practices and lessons learned for documentation and sharing with stakeholders. Collaborate with various partners and stakeholders to manage relationships and maintain routine communications.
  • Capacity Building: Contribute to the capacity building of staff within the BoSPHCDA on the Indigo system.
  • Other Supportive Duties: Offer support for any other activity deemed appropriate by the Indigo Deployment Project Manager, Program Manager, and the eHA Executive Director.

These consultants will play a vital support role in ensuring the smooth operation and success of the Borno Pre-commercial Indigo Deployment initiatives, with a strong focus on providing technical and logistical support while adhering to WHO PQS Field Evaluation requirements.
